Spectators have been awed by the grace and power of the sport of artistic swimming since the inception of the sport in the early 1900s. Artistic swimming requires a unique combination of overall body strength, stamina, agility, grace, split-second timing, artistic interpretation, and dramatic flair. Many have described the sport as a mixture of swimming, dance and gymnastics. The goal of every performance is technical excellence, artistic impression and synchronization of body and music.
Akula will be hosting TWO summer camps in July 2022. First camp will be for the younger group (ages 4-9). Second camp will be for more seasoned swimmers (ages 10 and up). Join our camps to get a head start on the basics of artistic swimming or to hone your skills towards elite swimmers, but more importantly HAVE FUN!
In this camp will introduce artistic swimming to the young pups. The kids will learn each swimming stroke, the importance of basic swimming skills lays the foundation for artistic swimming. The kids will learn; basic synchro water skills like sculling, learn to perform some water dance with music, as well as land based dance, work on flexibility and strength. The camp will wrap-up with a little show utilizing their skills.

July 11-15 from 9 AM to 12:30 PM
The day will consist of; 90 min of swimming, 45 min of snack and break, 75 min of land exercises.

Your child must be confident in the water and able to swim 25 yards with or without swimming aids like floatation devices.
Snacks and drinks can be provided from Akula for the duration of the camp. This camp will be coached by Olga Kuzhela with assistance from Akula Team.
If you have already gone through a season of artistic swimming and want to learn more outside of your day-to-day practices, this is for you! This camp will focus on artistic swimming elements in the water, figures and routines. We are going to work on calisthenics to achieve grace of movement using all parts of the body. We will create a short routine to perform at the end of camp in the water and land using all the elements and techniques practiced during the camp.
On land, the priority will be flexibility - a key element in artistic swimming. Learning stretching techniques with help from rhythmic gymnastics olympian. On water learn techniques and corrections with help of figures olympian expert.

Drinks and lunch can be provided from Akula for the duration of the camp. This camp will be coached by Olga Kuzhela and Anastasia Nazarenko.
The summer camps will be coached by two Gold Olympian medalists.
A gold medalist in synchronized swimming team event at the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Head coach of Akula Artistic Swimming Club and have also coached numerous other athletes who competed at Junior Olympics. Olga is also known as a figure specialist. Olga will be coaching both the Akula Pups Camp and the Akula Elite Camp.
Olympic Gold medalist in rhythmic gymnastics London 2012. The founder of stretch/flexibility studio in New York. The athletes will have a lot to learn from her incredible flexibility and her experience in this front. It's a rare opportunity to learn from a rhythmic gold medalist. Anastasia will be coaching the Akula Elite Camp alongside Olga.
